UNE-EN 1492-1:2001+A1:2009
Textile slings. Safety. Part 1: Flat woven webbing slings made of chemical fibers for general use.

SCOPE OF APPLICATION

Flat woven web slings intended for general purpose lifting operations, which are used to lift objects, materials or goods that do not deviate from specified requirements, safety factors or working load limits.
Lifting operations not covered by this standard include the lifting of persons, potentially hazardous materials such as molten metals and acids, glass sheets, splittable materials, nuclear reactors and where special conditions apply.

USE AND STORAGE

Flat woven webbing slings in accordance with the standard are suitable for use and storage in the following temperature range:

  • polyester and polyamide -40ºC to 100ºC;
  • polypropylene -40ºC to 80ºC.

OUT OF RANGE OF APPLICATION

The standard does not apply to the types of webbing slings listed below:

  • slings such as sack slings, nets (composed of several cross webbing straps sewn together), 'adjustable' slings, etc.;
  • slings made of woven tapes of monofilament yarns;
  • slings designed for operation prior to sling handling and intended not to be reused.

  • Tape.
  • Sewing.
  • Eyelets.
  • Workload limits.
  • Color codes.
  • Label.
  • Metallic components.
  • Certificate.
  • Instructions for use.

WHO CAN PERFORM THE INSPECTION?

The person designated to perform the inspections must be adequately trained and qualified by knowledge and practical experience, and instructed to perform the required verifications/inspections.
All examinations and inspections should be carried out by :

  • Competent people trained in the applicable regulations.
  • Official Organizations.
  • Manufacturers of lifting slings.
